THE THREE GUNAS - RAJO, SATVA & TAMO

Gunas are attributes, qualities which define the character of the individual.

Tamo Gunas are the lowest form of Gunas that arise from the desires and greed of the mind. It showers inertia, selfishness, shrewdness troubling others and keeping everything without progress.

Rajo Gunas involve intellect and need a conscious mind to perform them. It signifies ego, bravery, jealousy, wars, struggles and helping with a motive.

Satva Gunas are entirely spiritual and are based on wisdom, consciousness and awareness of the being. It is the light, the purity, the kindness charity and compassion.

Briefly, Gunas have the following characteristics:-

1.) Satva Guna - Illuminating.
2.) Rajo Guna - Activating.
3.) Tamo Guna - Restraining

When there is Disbalance of these Gunas, the Universe comes into existence. Each and every individual has to control / balance their level of Gunas.

1.     First, control the lowest one i.e. Rajo Guna, as it reduces the speed of progress of an individual’s growth. This Guna can be control only by the proper use of other 2 Gunas viz. Rajo Gunas & Satva Gunas.

2.   Secondly, after eliminating the Tamo Guna, hit on the Rajo Gun, as it also decelerates the person’s spiritual growth and sometimes helps Rajo Guna to exaggerate.  Only Satva Guna has the power to eradicate this Gunas.

3.    Finally, try to leave the Satva Gunas also, as it take the person soul near to the God, but does not permits to dissolve in it. So, leaving Satva Guna is also very important in everyone’s life.

The one who exterminate these 3 types of Gunas, gets enlightened and reaches the final destination (God’s Feet) and attains Salvation (Moksha)

  4. found a mistake "First, control the lowest one i.e. Rajo Guna, as it reduces ", here it should be Tamo Guna not Rajo Guna.

    1. Theses three gunas are collectively called MAYA, "rajgun tamgun satgun kahiyae eh teri sab maya" - Guru Granth Sahib ji. So these are qualities, behavior, thought as well as action. for example, a rajoguni person will have thoughts related to desire, worry, and illusion and constantly think about possessing and doing more work. and this gun is related to Air. A person who spends most of his/her breaths at Rajogun will become a lifeform of "Bhoomlok" like cow, ox, hen, tiger, lion according to his/her Karmas etc. The gunas are collectively called Trigun, Bhavsagar, Asgaah, Bhavjal. Each guna is an ocean itself like rajogun is called "Agan Sagar (Ocean of fire)", Tamogun is called Bikh Sagar (Ocean of Poison) and Satogun is called "Sukh Sagar" (Ocean of Comfort). When we are given the human body, our breathes are counted, in fact in all lifeforms our breaths, and days are given calculated. Not even a single breath can be increased or decreased.

    2. So within the given period which we call life in the form of breaths, we have to pave our way out from "Trigun", and it is possible only in the human body. When we are given Human Body, it is our chance to merge back into the Creator. While remaining in the human body, we have to learn to awaken ourselves, we have to know who we are, how we see in our dreams. We are not this body, this body is a house given for our stay and in this house, a personal palace is built at the topmost place which we call "Dasam Duar". "Moksh padarth" which is called NAAM is in the Dasam Duar. NAAM is a sound that comes from Creator, and once you experience NAAM that means you are just one step away from the Creator. And to reach Dasam Duar we need to rise above the Trigunas. Below the eyebrows is "Trigun" area and above that is "Dasam duar". A person of any religion will have to reach this place to get the NAAM (Moksh Padarth) and be Immortal. Guru Granth Sahib ji is the collection of life experiences, teachings, and ways of Gurmukhs who merged back into the Creator and reached the level of Immortality. This information is bestowed upon to me by my Honourable Great Teacher Bhai Sewa Singh ji Tarmala and the current Honourable Teacher Bhai Dalbir Singh ji Tarmala. I would recommend you all to read this Book by Bhai Sahib ji for more info.
